Curriculum and Approach

Lower Kindergarten is the year a child's classroom habits start to take shape. At Himalaya College, LKG builds directly on the Nursery foundation, moving four-year-olds from open-ended play toward slightly more structured, purposeful activity while keeping the classroom warm and unhurried. The approach still follows Early Childhood Development guidance ahead of formal Basic Level schooling, but the sessions grow a little longer and the expectations around listening and following instructions grow a little firmer. Classroom Life

Teachers instead track each child against a simple developmental checklist covering literacy readiness, numeracy readiness, motor skills and social behaviour, and this is discussed with parents at scheduled meetings through the year.
